Atlantic Salmon (master class, 4ftx3ft, acrylic on canvas)

Robin has been a long time conservationist of the Atlantic Salmon in New Brunswick and especially the Oromocto river system . Twenty years ago there were thousands of salmon in our river system and now there is between a few dozen and a hundred . They are on the endangered species listing yet the commercial Gaspereau fishery captures the migrating salmon smolt in the spring virtually putting the final nails in their coffin. This painting depicts the Salmon schooling up at the pool at the mouth of Shin Creek that flows into the South Oromocto River . What will it take to get this commercial fishery to stop and save the Salmon. Hopefully this painting will bring attention to the Atlantic Salmon in the Oromocto River system.
